It’s a little ways away but Saturday May 4, 2013 is the 139th Kentucky Derby! I personally love the Kentucky Derby because it’s a great reason to wear a fancy dress, or a nice suit, and get together with friends, play horse betting games, and make great food and even better drinks. One drink in particular is a Derby Tradition, which of course is the mint julep, which is a very delicious bourbon drink that is easy to make and is perfect to serve to your guests. And with drinks it is of course important to also serve food, but for such a fancy party I think an assortments of appetizers is the right thing to serve to keep from needing places to sit if you are short on space around the TV to watch the big race. For your table vases will do but if you have old trophies lying around or can find some at a garage sale they are perfect to hold flowers for the food table or your dining room table. The Kentucky Derby is one of my favorite events to watch during the year and always turns out fun to make a party out of it!
